THE MYSTERY
Ray Hagley’s Kodachrome slides are stunning in color, composition and content.

Hagley’s color slides show details of the island rarely seen by historians. There were 13 slides in Hagley’s collection from an original set of 24. 11 of the slides are unaccounted for either lost or censored by the United States Air Force. Hagley’s collection also included many black and white photos most of which he took, some of which were given to him by a friend in the 1st Battalion,105th Infantry, 27th Infantry Division who also served on Saipan. The entire collection of photographs is dated June 1944 to October 1945. Could any of these photos hold a clue into solving the Earhart mystery? Over the years, the disappearance of Amelia Earhart has spawned almost as many conspiracy theories as the Lindbergh Kidnapping and the Kennedy Assasination. The last flight of Amelia Earhart continues to be one of the most enduring mysteries of our time.
